By: Roger Sarris

The last fifty years have witnessed an amazing array of technological innovations, such as space travel, robotics, and the computer. We've also seen the advent of many technological developments, that while certainly exciting, were not innovations. But somewhere along the line, people started confusing technological developments with technological innovations. And while new technology like loading DVD to iPod is exciting, it is not an innovation.

Any easy way to figure out if something is an innovation is to ask whether or not it has revolutionized the world. Has it completely changed the world's understanding of something? Has it completely changed the way we live? If the answer is no, then it is not an innovation. New technology like loading DVD to iPod is exciting and definitely useful, but it is not an innovation because it hasn't revolutionized anything.

Regardless of its non-innovation status, loading DVD to iPod is a very cool technological development. It may not have revolutionized the world, but it certainly has made our commutes home from work and school much more pleasant!

Seriously, think about your entertainment options fifty years ago. If you wanted to watch a TV program, you had to catch it while it was being broadcasted. Your choices were pretty limited too, because there were only three or four stations back then. And the only movies you could watch were the ones that happened to be playing at your local theater. Amazing, isn't it?

Soon the ability to convert DVD to iPod was not enough, and the DVD to iPod converter was born. These converters really took off and new tech companies sprung up overnight to try and cash in on the technology.

Competition was stiff, and consumers really benefitted as these companies fought to dominate the marketplace by increasing the storage capabilities, conversion speeds and copy quality of their DVD to iPod converters.

As time went on, companies started to think about things like specialization vs. universality. Some companies decided it was a good idea to specialize, narrowing their focus and concentrating on designing converters for specific platforms. Others decided not to limit themselves and designed universal converters that were compatible with both Windows and Macintosh.

Many companies realized that what people really wanted was convenience. So they developed easy to use DVD to iPod converters that did their job with just one simple button click

Naturally it was the companies that were smart enough to create DVD to iPod converters that were both universal and user-friendly that now dominate the marketplace. These converters are versatile, and incredibly easy to use. Loading DVD to iPod with these converters is as simple as clicking one button.

So who really about the fact that loading DVD to iPod is not technically an innovation? It is one of the coolest technological developments to emerge in the last twenty years, and it provides us with an incredible amount of entertainment freedom and convenience. And at the end of the day, isn't that what is really important?
