Train Horns

By: Marc Smith

Train horns are audible warning devices found on most diesel and electric locomotives. Train horns are operated by compressed air, typically 125-140 psi. They are used to warn pedestrians and car drivers that there is a train approaching.
However, now they are serving a new purpose - car horns. Loud train horns are now being installed on cars and trucks to honk LOUD. Train Horns are the solution for anyone who gets frustrated on their daily commute. When a car cuts you off on your way to work no longer do you have to honk you're little horn on you geo metro, now you can scare the shit out of them and let them know how you feel.
Train horn kits are all the rage. Train horn kit sales have steady risen according to Google trends. Now people have turned this safety feature into a way to scare people for their own benefit. There are a couple of funny videos out there of people in a truck rolling up on people and blasting the horn. In one video they were cruising the main drag after the bars, then again rolling through a quiet suburban neighborhood scaring people at their mailbox. Weather its right or if it's wrong I really don't care because it was funny.
Train Horn kits are also popular amongst train horn enthusiasts, and can be purchased on the internet. I used to live in Durango, Co and we have a popular narrow gauge railroad that starts in town. Every summer there would be people crammed on the train to take them thought the mountains to Silverton, a journey that takes you through the wilderness.
Point being train horns are adored by many people maybe you should check them out.
