In 1980, the Islanders won the Stanley Cup. Buth Goring, Bossy, Trottier, Clark Gillies along with wingers Duane Sutter and Anders Kallur, Gord Lane and Ken Morrow helped in the team�s success. In 1981, the Islanders won their second cup beating the Minnesota North Stars. Bossy scored 50 goals in 50 games and Butch won the Conn Smythe Trophy. The 1981-82-season saw a record 15 games win. The Islanders earned 118 points that season. They defeated the Vancouver Canucke in a four game series to lift the Stanley Cup once again. Bossy made the Cup winning goal and was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy.

The 1982-83 season saw competition between the Edmonton Oilers and the Islanders as the best team of NHL. The Islanders defeated the Oilers to win their fourth cup. Billy Smith was voted the MVP and Bossy made the cup winning goal again. The Islanders fan following was increasing owing to their popularity and wins.
