NamesDir is a really awesome and useful website! NamesDir suggests you use this site for finding old friends, discovering new family, reuniting with old school mates etc. NamesDir is a website you can go to and look up first names or last names. Then with in those results you can find the most common first names or last names that people have. Example if you pick John as the first name, the most common last names will be listed. Last names such as Smith, Noble, Frost, Miller, Sheppard, or Cross etc. I have a pretty uncommon name, spelling wise, but NamesDir did have it! NamesDir.com also has a sister site I liked (mentioned at the bottom of the list of names on NamesDir.com) called NamesPedia.com which allows you to use additional information such as gender, language, etc. I found this site to be really interesting as well. It could be used perhaps as a baby name finder, or for other things NamesDir can be used for other things such as picking pen names, or character names for a script, or story of some sort.
NamesDir also has a really simple design that is very user friendly, and you can also submit your own names to the list if they are not already on the list. This is definitely a website you will want to check out in the very near future! The only information on NamesDir I wish they did include was how they got all the names on the list I know they say all names were retrieved from other websites, but which websites. I think it would be interesting to find out how this same came to light with an about us section, and a story behind how they get the names and how they decided which names are the most common names. It says they use search engine results, but is this really all done by hand? There has to be billions of names on this incredible site. Really, if you cant find your name, then I would be utterly amazed.
