Musician Referral - Helpful Information

By: Paul Zayer

Some people were just born to be musicians. Once they have it in their mind, it is in their blood, and there truly is no way to get rid of it. I have known this to be true a lot of times. I know a lot of them, I am married to one, and there are some in my relatives. I even know a few from the other side of the planet. They all share a few things in common. They are artistics, and nothing that could stop them from playing, even after an illness menaces their lifestyle. The biggest problem they have is finding the right individual to perform with when one band does not function well. This is when the musician referral occurs, and that is how a lot of good artists meet each other.

There are a lot of places to look for a musician referral, and I know there are a lot on Internet. The problem is getting someone who resides close to your place, and someone who has talent and the will to give up time for the success of the group. There are a lot of good players out there, but styles and personalities do not all the time mesh. This is the hard part of a musician referral. Some want to give more time than others, and some have no idea of what it implicates to be part of a band. Great musicians evidently find each other, but it is more complicated than it looks.

If you want to utilize a musician referral, first make sure to be very clear about what you are searching for in a band partner. You might look for a guitar player, but do you look for someone that has their own transportation? You have to think about when you practice. Will he be able to show without fail each time? You also have to consider the equipment. Do they have enough? What experience do they have? Do they like the same style of music? Do they have obligations that might keep them from showing? Those are all excellent issues that should be discussed when getting a musician referral.

It might sound daunting to recrute an artist through a musician referral, but it is a good way to go about it. Just remember to give it time, and don't just recrut the first musician that responds without knowing if they are a good match. My boyfriend told me that the best musician referral is other bands, and he doesn't mean asking them if they know someone. Groups steal musicians from other bands all the time. It's not quite fair, but it looks like it's part of the deal. Best of luck to you and enjoy your search into discovering a perfect musician match.
