Toenails are thicker than fingernails but they grow swiftly. It needs about four to six months for them to raise back while toenails need from 12 to 18 months. Customarily, men’s nails grow swiftly than women’s nails. Children and pregnant women also have rapid growing nails.

Weather also influence nail growth. Nails grow swiftly in warm weather and in daytime, than in cold weather and at night. Nails grow at different swiftness on both hands. If you are right-handed, its natural that nails on your right hand will grow swiftly than the nails on your left hand and vice versa. Anxiety, typing on a computer etc. aids nail growth.

Nails reflect a person’s healthiness. When you are sick, it will certainly show in your nails. One of the most usual nail problems is onychomycosis, a fungal infection of the nails that can turn your nails ugly and deformed. To prevent this, take elaborate care of your nails by washing and drying them thoroughly, wearing well- aired footwear and cotton socks that take in moisture, and applying a good foot-powder.
