Destination Weddings
By: Tony James
Planned well, a destination wedding cannot only save thousands off the cost of a traditional wedding, it will also turn you're wedding day into an a memorable vacation for you and your guests. Planning a Bahamas wedding starts with a residency requirement of one day; you cannot get married in the Bahamas on the same day you arrive. Legally, you must also provide photo ID, sign a declaration with the US Consul at the American Embassy, and provide documentation of when you arrived in the Bahamas. Planning a wedding from afar is no longer the scary and risky proposition it once was. You can make contact with resorts and vendors, including wedding coordinators, in the destination of choice via email, and have the information, price lists, and contracts sent back to you in a matter of moments.
Destination weddings tend to cost less than a stay at home affair, and lots of couples have begun planning to tie the knot with a twist of extravagance. Many resorts offer amazing deals for onsite ceremonies, some even will do a basic set-up at no cost. You are usually required to arrive a few days early to fill out the paperwork, so by the time you're wedding rolls around, you've had two to three days of fun with your sweetie, family, and friends.
While this sounds fun and relaxing, a destination wedding requires an extra level of organization and preparation. These weddings are usually smaller than what you might have at home. A typical destination wedding has between 20 and 120 guests. This setting is more intimate than traditional weddings, and offer you and your guests the chance to visit an exotic destination that can act as a wedding and a honeymoon all in one. Planning destination weddings can be fun and exciting - but also a lot of work.
Destination weddings are the perfect way for couples to celebrate the most important day of their life together with family and friends. This also makes a lot of sense for couples whose families and friends are scattered around the country (or even the globe). After all, if most of the guests are going to travel anyway, why not get married in a place that's a vacation for all?
