Any California resident and have at least over 21 years of age can have a CDL from the California truck driving school to drive intersatate commmercial trucks, including hazardous materials. Graduates who have 18 years can pursue this job but they are obligated to drive inside a state, the interstate commerce for them is forbidden. A CDL can be obtained even if the potential driver has DUI violations on his record, excepting the A Class cathegory trucks or buses.
The only one of the California truck driving schools to be given the Fleet Safety Award by the California Trucking Association is the Western Pacific Truck School in Stockton California. Its Class A Commercial Drivers License Program (160 hours) includes training on different types of vehicles, defensive and emergency driving procedures, actual driving under various road conditions and Dot safety rules and regulations. Other programs include the 40-hour Class B Commercial Drivers License Program and the 8-hour Forklift Certification Course.
Some California truck driving schools are actually companies that provide additional training for graduates of other duly certified truck driving schools with 120 hours of instruction, preferably with practice CDL tests. Such schools take on both first-time and experienced drivers to develop their skills as drivers and guarantee hiring at the end of the program. One such organization is the CR England
