Broadband Satellite Intternet Service For Rural America

By: Stephen Long

If you live out in the country and can't get DSL or cable, then satellite Internet access might be worth considering. There are many satellites that orbit the earth to bring broadband Internet access to the public. Satellite Internet access enables you to browse the Internet with a high-speed Internet connection that is much faster than dialup connections.

Broadband: Broadband Internet access, also more popularily known as "broadband", is high-speed Internet access-as opposed to dial-up Internet access. A variety of minimum speeds have been used in definitions of broadband. These browsing speeds range up from 64 kbit/s up to 1. High-speed Internet is often called broadband, because it usually has a high rate of download data transmission. There are several rural broadband solutions that exist, although each one has its own strengths and weaknessess.

Satellite Internet access can have a high latency when compared to othe broadand Internet systems. During severe storms or heavy cloud cover there are times that you may temporarily lose your Internet connection. You must have your LNB on the satellite dish adjusted properly to insure the best Internet connection. There are a few satellite Internet companies that have (FAP) Fair Access Policies that restrict heavy Internet usage. VOIP is not recommended for most satellite Internet service.

Speed: Some broadband Internet companies offer dowload speed up to 24 Mbit/s. Upload speeds are limited by the user's dial-up modem, and latency is high, as it is for any satellite based Internet. Uplink speeds rarely exceed one megabit per second and latency can be up to one second. High Speed satellite Internet access is the answer for consumers and businesses that want a high speed Internet connection but live outside the area of local DSL and Cable providers.

Currently, most satellite ISPs offer their customers download speeds ranging from 512 Kbps to 1. The speed of satellite Internet is comparable to other high speed Internet services, and just like DSL and cable, its always on. Connection speeds offered by satellite internet service is amazing, especially when you compare what satellite internet is capable of to what high-speed dial up is capable of handling

Available: If you can get cable or DSL, then one of those should always be your first choice for high speed Internet access. If you have a clear view of the southern sky, then you should be able to receive satellite Internet access. The truth is, you should only consider signing up for Satellite Internet when there is no broadband cable or DSL Internet available in their area. That in mind, we'd recommend seeing if these other broadband solutions are available where you live, before going the direction of satellite service.

Satellite Internet access is the high speed answer for consumers and businesses that want a fast Internet connection but live outside the area of local DSL and Cable providers. Consider implementing satellite Internet service if you live in rural america.
