Learning the rules of poker is a pretty simple task. Learning to become a great poker player who can consistently make money and take down large pots is a whole other endeavor in itself. Playing in free money games are of little to no value as people that play in these games have no regard for the chips in front of them as they are not worth anything.
Poker is a game of skill and patience. By developing a patience at the poker table one can greatly improve their poker game. By developing a discipline at the table players will be able to fold almost all of the hands that they see thereby only playing premium starting hands.
When a player learns to change and adapt their game to the current situation at the table they should see a marked improvement in their bankroll.
It is essential to have confidence in your poker skills and abilities, it is at this point when you will have the confidence to try and take down the large pots when you can see that you have the pot odds to do so.
Lastly play may different types of poker games. There are so many different variations of poker out there that you really limit your money making ability if you only play just the one.
